Core Keeper Boss Progression: From Glurch to Core Commander

Follow the main story gates, activate the Core, use Titan Shrines and collect the six souls needed to reach Core Commander.

On this page

Start by defeating Glurch, Ghorm and Malugaz and placing their key drops in the statues beside the Core. Activate the Core, open the Great Wall, then gather the six Titan souls required to challenge Core Commander. This route covers the main story through that encounter.

1. Power the three statues

The main-story unlock chain

  1. Activate the three statuesGlurch Eye + Ghorm’s Horn + Malugaz’s Stolen Crystal Heart.
  2. Core → Great Wall → CoreSpeak to the Core, open the wall, then return for the Titan Shrine lead.
  3. Collect all six Titan soulsAzeos, Omoroth, Ra-Akar, Druidra, Crydra and Pyrdra.
  4. Reach Core CommanderWith six souls, shatter the Crystal Meteor in the Desert of Beginnings.

Boss Item to place in its statue
Glurch the Abominous Mass Glurch Eye
Ghorm the Devourer Ghorm’s Horn
Malugaz the Corrupted Stolen Crystal Heart

The three items power the Core. Malugaz’s heart activates the Malugaz statue.

To summon Malugaz, combine 3 Crystal Skull Shards into a Malugaz Summoning Idol, then place it on the sigil in the throne room arena in the Forgotten Ruins.

Glurch → Ghorm → Malugaz is a practical starting sequence. Prepare your early armor as materials become available; the activation requirement is to obtain all three key items.

2. Speak to the Core and open the wall

Interact with the activated Core until you receive the ability to open the Great Wall. Travel to the wall and interact with it, then return to the Core for your next lead. In multiplayer, each player should speak to the Core to unlock their own Souls tab.

3. Follow the Titan Shrines

The Core directs you to Titan Shrines, where you can craft the relevant scanners and summoning items and unlock a waypoint. For a world created before version 1.2, add the shrine Content Bundle through world settings if those structures are missing. Official Void & Voltage update

Use Azeos → Omoroth → Ra-Akar as the recommended preparation route through the outer biomes. Each contributes a soul. Their associated summoning items are the Large Shiny Glimmering Object, Expert Lure and Thumper respectively.

Crafting a scanner locates its boss; it does not summon the encounter. Check the corresponding summoning recipe at the shrine before setting out. The map guide explains how scans fit into exploration.

4. Complete the three-Hydra chain

Progress through Druidra → Crydra → Pyrdra. Druidra supplies the Pink Hydra Eye needed for the Wind Organ of Ice; Crydra supplies the White Hydra Eye needed for the Wind Organ of Fire. Each of these two organs also needs 20 Gleam Wood Planks and 10 Solarite Bars.

Start the chain with a Wind Organ of Wilderness, crafted from 20 Gleam Wood Planks and 10 Solarite Bars. The Hydra shrine offers this recipe, the later organs and their scanners. Each scanner requires three Radiation Crystals, so prepare for that collection trip before gathering the remaining materials.

5. Check six souls before Core Commander

You need the souls of Azeos, Omoroth, Ra-Akar, Druidra, Crydra and Pyrdra. With all six obtained, interact with and shatter the Crystal Meteor in the Desert of Beginnings to begin the first Core Commander encounter.

Optional encounters such as Hive Mother and King Slime can provide equipment along the way, but are not part of those three statue requirements or six souls.
